Amanda Huza - Experienced Academic Leader at Equality Charter School
As the middle school principal at Equality Charter School (ECS) in the Bronx, New York, Amanda Huza leverages two decades of academic instruction and leadership experience to oversee curriculum and professional development for the 270-student school. Because Equality Charter School has dozens of English Language Learners and students with disabilities, Amanda Huza works diligently to create an inclusive environment. In addition, she implements various multi-tiered support systems and teams.
Before becoming middle school principal at ECS, Amanda Huza spent three years as its director of instruction and response to intervention for its humanities program. This involved supervising a dozen faculty members and curriculum revision to align with New York Common Core State Standards. She also worked as a reading intervention specialist and support coach at ECS and Brooklyn Charter School.
Amanda Huza has other educational experience as an elementary and middle school teacher at Charter and Parochial school districts in New York. She holds master's degrees in school building leadership and elementary reading and literacy from Mercy College and Walden University, respectively. She's a member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the International Reading Association.
